About the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM)
The CFM is the Canadian National office of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM) and governs 24 Local Chapters from coast to coast across Canada. CFM is the Union representing musical artists of all genres and in all every type of professional performance be it live or recorded work. The CFM provides integral tools and services to professional musician’s, such as, pension, residual/revenue streams, insurance, legal protection and more. This position requires a self-motivated individual with meticulous attention to detail, and who possesses strong customer service skills.
Requirements:
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to prioritize many time-sensitive tasks
• Personable demeanor with ability to greet office visitors
• Able to work onsite at least 4 days/28 hours per week (up to 5/35 hours days, on as-needed basis)
Daily Responsibilities:
• Answer telephones, take/retrieve messages, greet visitors
• Receive/distribute mail and couriers, and assistance with outgoing deliveries
• Logging/tracking Artist Work Visas & various account receivables
• Review and process support letters for artists showcasing in USA and for Foreign artists coming to Canada to work temporarily
• License and other renewal processes
• Assistance with social media and other member or Local communications (sporadic/on as-needed basis)
• Assist with daily/weekly office/kitchen maintenance
Assets, not required:
• Artist/creator, musical or other artistic discipline
• Experience working in arts and culture
• Bilingual French/English, or conversant French
• Union knowledge/experience
• Working knowledge of funding programs and grant writing experience
