Cultural Services Assistant
Up to a maximum of 24 hours / week

 

Duties:

Reporting to the Cultural Services Coordinator, the Cultural Services Assistant will assist the Cultural Services Coordinator, with respect to the implementation of the Richmond Hill Cultural Plan.  You will also be required to support the Cultural Plan initiatives including the Cultural Summit, Culture Maps, Celebrated Stories, Artist in Residence Program, Arts Awards, and Cultural Plan social media accounts.  The Cultural Services Assistant will assist with marketing and promotion, community outreach, event planning and delivery, and project development, implementation and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Recreation or related discipline would be considered an asset, and is complemented by 1 year related experience
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Cultural Planning
  • Standard 1st Aid & CPR C Certification
  • A valid Class ‘G’ driver's license and access to a vehicle are essential (mileage compensated)
  • The successful candidates will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance
  • You have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to your success in this role
  • Experience work with arts and cultural community organizations and social media accounts, specifically Facebook and Twitter
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and ability to prioritize are a requirement
  • You demonstrate Richmond Hill’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service
  • Proficient computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheet and database management is necessary
  • You must be prepared to work evenings and weekends, with the possibility of some daytime shifts and statutory holidays
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire
  • Successful candidates must be able to attend regular training sessions throughout the year

 The hourly rate for this position is $22.00
